Counselling and support regarding employment integration and the recognition of foreign qualifications

The project Counselling and support regarding employment integration and the recognition of foreign qualifications seeks to provide adequate counselling and support in order to achieve employment integration and the recognition of foreign qualifications. The project funding is covered by the Public Employment Service Austria (AMS), the European Refugee Fund and the provincial government of Styria.

For the first time implemented in 2006, also this year the project addresses people, who are part of the following target group:

You live in the province of Styria
You completed a university degree or another type of education in a foreign country
You would like to work in this area here in Austria

Project contents:

1. General counselling
On appointment, individual counselling in the centre. Frequency and intensity according to requirement.

2. Participation in project cylce
Since June 2006, a total of 22 people were selected to participate in project cycles that last 3 months. In each project cycle, the participants attend the following range of counselling and monitoring offers:

Initital interview
Specialist workshops
Escorted practical training
Language training/ Job Application training
Computer training/ Job Application training
Individual counselling
3 months after care

When selecting participants, an emphasis is put on people who are qualified in the health sector. In well founded cases, participation of people with other professional backgrounds is possible.

Projectcycle 01/06: Monday, 17.07. until Friday, 13.10.06
Projectcycle: 02/06: Monday, 18.09. until Friday, 15.12.06

Projectcycles 2007:
Projectcycle 01/07:   Monday, 29.01. until Friday, 27.04.07
Projectcycle 02/07:   Monday, 30.04. until Friday, 27.07.07
Projectcycle 03/07:   Monday, 10.09. until Friday, 07.12.07

Needless to say, each individual care plan proved to be diverse. One participant expressed this fact in the written project evaluation as follows:
"Jeder Mensch ist zu einem bestimmten Ziel angekommen."
"Every person reached a certain goal."
